This week, I am running a photography workshop in the picturesque Palouse region. It has been hot since we got here with temps in the low 100s it has also been clear as clear can be most of the time in the sky. Tonight, we venture to Palouse Falls, I can’t wait to see the incredible images we’ll create together, but with the high temps, clear skies and most of the group having never done astrophotography before we took some time last night to give everyone some practice. We found a nice spot out in the wheat fields and let everyone get started on their starry adventure. Tonight, we add in the star trackers for even more fun.

Earlier in the day, had to get a little more creative with the shots given what we got in the weather department, but I can always find some some black and white to do, no matter the time of day or weather.

During the practice night, we delved into techniques for shooting the Milky Way, star trails, and the elusive nocturnal landscapes. It was inspiring to see everyone’s creativity and passion come to life as they experimented with different settings and compositions.
