Replay of Webinar from January 7 2025
Presets are one of the most misunderstood tools in Lightroom. For some photographers they’re a shortcut; for others, something to avoid altogether. In this recent one-hour webinar, I walked through a more nuanced approach—how presets actually work, when they’re useful, and how to build or adapt them so they support your photographs rather than override them.
One of the main ideas I return to in this webinar is that presets are best understood as recorded decisions, not magic solutions. When you know why a preset does what it does, you gain the freedom to adjust it intelligently—or to build your own from scratch.
The goal isn’t speed for its own sake. It’s clarity, consistency, and control.
